Born in California but raised a nomad, Samantha spent her childhood moving between the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Belgium, and Egypt. She returned to the United States to attend Rhode Island School of Design, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration in 2000. Since then, Samantha’s illustrations have been published in various magazines and newspapers which include Juxtapoz, BUST, The Kathmandu Post, USA Today, DestinAsian, Jackson Hole Magazine, and Inked. One of the founding members of Urban Sketchers, Samantha never travels without a sketchbook and a pencil to capture the world around her, focusing in particular on drawing the portraits of people she meets along the way. She is currently developing these sketches into a series of large-scale ink portraits of people from Eastern Anatolia and Western Turkey.
